Oh, No You Don’t!
A wall of St. Lawrence defensemen prevents an opposing runner from gaining yardage. Led by a superb
defensive corps, the football team had its best season since 1982, finishing 7-3, undefeated at home.
Number 42, senior Obi Nwaigwe, of Valley Stream, N.Y., stood out, racking up 23.5 tackles for losses,
10.5 sacks and three forced fumbles, placing him among the top defensive performers in Division III and
earning him Liberty League First-Team honors.

Tribute to a “Goody” Coach
On September 7, 2013, the University dedicated the
Bob Goodwin Men’s Soccer Team Room in honor of longtime
head coach and Emeritus Professor of Sport and Leisure
Studies Robert Goodwin, with many former players, parents,
family members and friends of Saints soccer on hand. The
plaque indicates that “Goody” coached from 1963 through
1990, while the framed list, held by his successor as head
coach, Bob Durocher, contains the names of all who donated
to the project, and the signatures of those who were present
for the dedication. Goodwin and Durocher are the only
two coaches in the men’s program’s 50-year history, with the
exception of a short season in 1962. With Coach Goodwin is
his wife, Beverly.
Robert Goodwin died on November 11, 2013. A memorial notice
will appear in the next issue of
St. Lawrence.
