Next Reunion: 25th, 2016
By the time you read this, our 20th Reunion will
be over, and I hope that those of you who attend-
ed had a great time. It’s not too early to note that
our 25th Reunion (which will not be with a cluster
of other classes) will be in June 2016! The 25th is
a BIG one and I hope that many of you can attend.
As for the news, I’ve been in touch with many
classmates about reunion planning and want to
again thank those on the Planning Committee
and Development Committee for making calls
to classmates…either to encourage them to at-
tend reunion or to consider a reunion gift. If you
are interested in working on a committee for the
25th Reunion, please contact Kim Hissong at St.
Lawrence.
Nicole Parisian Cring
has been elected to serve
on the Alumni Executive Council; she will join
Da-
vid Halstead
as representatives from our class.
She began her term at Reunion.
If you have any news to share, please connect
with me on FaceBook or at the email listed above
this column.

Next Reunion: 25th, 2017
By the time you read this, Reunion will have come
and gone. In the next issue we will cover all the
fun we had for those who weren’t able to attend.
As of mid-April, nearly 80 of us were planning to
attend; I amhoping that we reached over 100! For
a last-minute list of those who registered, go to
www.stlawu.edu/node37. The following helped
with the Reunion committees and recruiting, so
we de nitely want to thank them for making it
a great weekend:
Eric Adema
,
John Biele
,
Mi-
chelle Kremer Goldberg
,
Amy Clemens Har-
vey
,
Beth Hausmann
,
Scott Je e
,
Tori Mills
and
Steve Todd
.
Mark Harland
helped recruit a lot of classmates
while moving back to Detroit for GM. Thanks,
Mark, for helping!
Lisa Lord Aronson
said she was sorry she was
not going to be able to make Reunion but had
a very good reason: her daughter’s Bat Mitzvah
was June 2. She said it is hard to believe she has a
13-year-old! I agree! Congratulations, Lisa, to you
and your daughter on such a special occasion.
Jennifer Schaefer Oakes
also had a con ict: her
daughter Elizabeth had one of her company ice
shows on June 2. Jennifer was really disappoint-
ed; she wanted to come back to campus and see
everyone! She and Dave are in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.,
with Elizabeth, 8, and their son, Jonathan, 6. They
also have a cat, Noughat. Dave is still at Morgan
Stanley, and they “travel a ton with the kids on
their breaks.”
Julie Ballentine
said she didn’t think she and
Chris Peter
would make this Reunion, but maybe
the next one when her two girls are a little older.
If you are looking for exquisite ne jewelry, check
out Julie’s business: www.ballentine .com. She
also posts some wonderful pictures of her latest
nds on her Facebook page, Julia Ballentine Fine
Jewelry.
Kathy Russell
and
Matson Rogers
were sorry
they couldn’t make Reunion either, but it fell dur-
ing a busy time with their shing business, An-
gler’s West Fly Fishing (www.montana y shers.
com.) Look them up if you are interested in en-
joying an incredible experience in a breathtaking
area! Kathy reports that they still enjoy Montana
with their three kids, who are getting big (ages 6,
9, and 12). They had a busy winter with all three
ski racing all over Montana. The shing business
is good and Matson had a blast hosting a trip
to Casa Blanca, Mexico, in the spring. Kathy still
works as a paramedic and part-time at a pediatric
o ce. Life is good!
CraigMcAvoy
seems to travel a lot with his work
and, unfortunately, was thinking in April that he
probably wouldn’t make it to Reunion. I am sure
he is cheering for his Yankees as we head through
the summer months.
Justin Scott
was also sorry he couldn’t make
Reunion. Check out his band at www.facebook.
com/LowStandardsTheBand. You can see Justin
rocking away at the Plaza Art Fair in Kansas City
the night before his wedding to Stephanie Axe
last September 30. The band is described thus: “A
driving rhythm section peppered with distinctive
guitar, haunting violin and crisp harmonies power
this eclectic Kansas City band that blends 60s rock
with jam-band spirit.”
Sadly,
Chrissy Metcalf Starck
also couldn’t
make it to Reunion since it landed on the last day
of her kids’ school. She is still in Cleveland with
husband Tommy and Brady and Carly.
Dave DeFazio
said he was planning to go to
St. Lawrence for the alumni soccer game at the
end of April so we will look forward to hearing
that the alumni survived the workout in the next
class notes. Did Dave make it to reunion too? He
is working on a new adventure called Wyoming
Whiskey, the rst legal distillery in Wyoming,
located in Kirby (pop. 92). He reports that their
Kristen H. Martin ’91
has assumed the post of corporate
secretary to the Utica Mutual and Graphics Arts Mutual Insur-
ance Company Boards of Directors. Utica Mutual Insurance
Company and Graphic Arts Mutual Insurance Company are
member companies of the Utica National Insurance Group
of New Hartford, N.Y.; Martin is senior vice president,
general auditor and corporate secretary for Utica National.
She joined the company as an examiner in 2001 and soon
afterward was promoted to staff attorney. She was, in suc-
cession, associate claims attorney; senior associate claims
attorney; general auditor, compliance officer and assistant
vice president; vice president; and senior vice president. In
addition to her B.A. from St. Lawrence, where she majored
in government and economics and was a member of Chi
Omega sorority, she holds a juris doctorate from Albany Law
School and the Associate in Claims (AIC) professional desig-
nation. She has been active with Utica National’s United Way
campaign and has served on the Parent Teacher Association
of the Clinton (N.Y.) Central School District and as a Child
Volunteer Protection Advocate Board Member of the Ameri-
can Youth Soccer Organization.
