Congratulations to
Sarah Clarkin
! After a na-
tional search, Sarah was recently selected to be
Town of Harrietstown (N.Y.) executive director of
the New York Housing Authority. She has relo-
cated from the Glens Falls area to Saranac Lake.
Sarah earned a master’s degree from UVM in
natural resource planning and has program and
organizational management experience in local
and regional planning, land management and
nature interpretation.
Ken Mahon
lives in Garden City, N.Y., with his
wife, Mary Beth, and their four children: Sean,
Tara, Carney and Brogan. Ken and Mary Beth are
both attorneys, and Ken practices in trust and
estates and estate litigation. Sean is at Harvard,
where he is a member of the men’s lacrosse team.
Ken forwarded a copy of the 1979 Orientation
Keynote Address, which was given by Prof. Henry
Crimmel to our incoming class at Gunnison Cha-
pel. I must admit that his predictions of life as we
would know it in the next 30+ years made for
some interesting reading, as I have a very faint
memory of this speech. For anyone who would
like a copy, please email and I will be happy to for-
ward it. The only caveat is that I need an update
for future class notes!
The Epsilon Kappa chapter of Chi Omega cele-
brated its 30th anniversary on campus in January.
One of the organizers was
Mary Hinds Noordsy
,
rst chapter president. Ten of the original 14
members attended, along with 40 alumnae and
current chapter members, representing classes
from ours to the present. There was a group pho-
to in the last issue.

there was a great Laurentian showing!

Alicia O’Brien Eppler
is a busy mom of three,
living with husband Ed and two teenagers: Bea,
a junior, and Preston, a freshman at New Canaan
(Conn.) High School. Their eldest, Cassie, is a
sophomore at Middlebury. They enjoyed last
winter’s SLU-Yale men’s hockey game; “we won in
OT so it was really exciting,” she said. “Go Saints!”
Alicia was a huge help with other SLU alum up-
dates.

I’m excited to begin serving as class reporter and
hope to have some news from our classmates to
share in the next issue of the magazine.
As a senior at St. Lawrence, I interned with Uni-
versity communications and enjoyed the work so
much that I pursued a career in higher education.
Since graduation I have worked for Wittenberg
University in Spring eld, Ohio, primarily writing
admission materials. I’m glad to have the oppor-
tunity now to use my professional writing skills to
serve our alma mater as class reporter.
Please drop me a line! I look forward to hearing
from you.
