Clarkson University has announced that Kathryn Durki ’07 has been named head coach for women's lacrosse. She had been an assistant coach at Clarkson in 2007-08. She was an environmental studies major at St. Lawrence, and as a lacrosse player was named a Second-Team Regional All-American in 2007 for her performance in the midfield. She was named a Liberty League All-Star in each of her last three seasons and was selected to participate in the prestigious North-South lacrosse game.
Grant L. “Lynn” Thatcher ’82 has been named director of admissions at Southern Vermont College in Bennington, Vt. He had served for the past four years as associate director of undergraduate admission at Northwestern University. He will guide the college's planned expansion of its student body from 500 to 700 students within three years. He reported developing his love of admissions work while serving as a tour guide at St. Lawrence. Before joining the staff at Northwestern, he had worked in the admissions and financial aid offices at Syracuse University, Hobart and William Smith Colleges and Clarkson.
GE has appointed Gregory Cameron ’90 vice president and chief financial officer at GE Capital Solutions. He had been CFO at both GE Corporate Financial Services and GE Healthcare Financial Services. He joined GE through its Financial Services Training Program in 1990 and held roles of increasing responsibility in finance and corporate auditing. He majored in economics, played football and was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa in college.

Contemporary Healthcare Capital, LLC, Shrewsbury, N.J., a leading provider of senior mortgage, mezzanine debt and equity to healthcare service companies throughout the U.S., has promoted Tanya Mollova ’05 to vice president of underwriting. Previously, she was the firm’s assistant vice president of underwriting. She is responsible for structuring, underwriting, performing due diligence analysis, closing and funding of new loans and equity investments. An economics major, the Red Bank, N.J., resident is enrolled in NYU’s Real Estate Finance program.
Steve Hirschfeld ’79, founding partner of the San Francisco law firm Curiale, Dellaverson, Hirschfeld & Kraemer, LLP and chief executive of the Employment Law Alliance, was given two awards in 2008. He was inducted into the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers as a fellow and he also received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of College and University Attorneys. NACUA’s highest award, it was established to recognize individuals who have given extraordinary service to higher education institutions over an extended time.
Judi Wakhungu ’83 is considered Kenya's top female petroleum geologist, at least in the estimation of the blog “Kenyan Women Professors.” According to the blog, Prof. Wakhungu is the executive director of the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) in Nairobi, having been an associate professor of science, technology and society at Penn State, where she also served as director of the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Institute. Her research interests include energy resources management; energy policy and development; science, technology and development; and gender issues in science and technology policy. The blog has a long list of "firsts": first woman geologist in the Ministry of Energy and Regional Development, where her duties entailed exploring for geothermal energy in Kenya's Rift Valley; first female petroleum geologist in the National Oil Corporation of Kenya; first female faculty member in the University of Nairobi's department of geology.
T3 Advisors, a full-service corporate real estate firm, has announced that Stephen Rich ’84 has joined the firm as senior vice president. He has joined T3’s Boston market office working to service the needs of Boston tenants. He’s an industry veteran who has successfully completed over 400 lease transactions over 21 years. His clients have included some of the largest financial services firms in the country as well as emerging companies. Prior to T3, Rich worked at firms such as Cushman & Wakefield and Equis. He and his wife, Carol Baird Rich ’83, and their three children live in Wellesley, Mass.
Jonathan Kent ’04 is director of admissions at SUNY Canton, where he has been working for a little over two years. His wife,
Sara Rademacher Kent ’04, is in the same line of work, across town; she is senior assistant director of admissions at SLU.
