Alumni Accomplishments

Jo Ann Campbell '86, vice chair of the Board of Trustees and vice president and chief financial officer for Kodak Health Imaging in Rochester, N.Y., has been named to the Council for Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU) 2005 Independent Sector Alumni Hall of Distinction. CICU created the Hall of Distinction in 2000 to recognize graduates of New York State's independent-sector higher education institutions who have made extraordinary contributions to the state and country through their careers and civic service. This year, the organization honors 12 individuals who came to New York State to attend an independent college or university and made the state their home following graduation. Campbell, a native of Prescott, Ont., says “I moved 14 times in 20 years, living everywhere from the Midwest to Canada, India, Brazil and Belgium,” before returning to New York.

Tracey Cross-Baker ’90 , associate director of career services at Ithaca College , has been elected president of the College Student Personnel Association of New York State, Inc. (CSPA). After serving as both an Advisory Board member and member-at-large for CSPA, she was co-founder of CSPA's Student Affairs Managers In-Training initiative. As president, she is responsible for the organization's member services, public relations, strategic planning and leadership development. She has initiated new opportunities for membership involvement in leadership initiatives, including a brand management campaign, a comprehensive professional development program, and collaboration with other student affairs associations. The American College Personnel Association's Commission for Career Development awarded her the national Volunteer Service Award for 2004. Formerly a career services staff member at St. Lawrence, she lives in Dryden, N.Y., with her husband, Stuart '89, and their children Douglas and Chloe.

Michael G. Jarvis '01 has been named the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Team Member of the Month for January 2005. The purpose of this award is to recognize a NOAA team member who has made significant contributions to the agency and who has demonstrated exceptional and sustained effort toward accomplishing NOAA's mission of providing environmental stewardship of the nation's coastal and marine resources. Jarvis has held a postgraduate fellowship position with NOAA since July 2003 and is a policy analyst with NOAA's Damage Assessment and Restoration Program (DARP), which assesses and estores resources injured by oil spills and hazardous substance releases. Pat Montanio, a program manager for NOAA's DARP, stated that Mike "brings enthusiasm to every task, makes sense out of conflicting guidance, and always comes through with a solid contribution. His strong desire to make a contribution to a better environment, coupled with his positive personality, has made him an invaluable part of the DARP team." He majored in environmental studies/government and earned his master’s in environmental and energy policy at the University of Delaware.

“We” is the Philadelphia Eagles, and what they had won, moments before, was the National Football Conference championship, a victory that propelled them into the 2005 Super Bowl. Molly Mullady ’91, holding the banner headline, had more than a casual interest in the outcome; as director of new business development (corporate sponsorship) for the Eagles, she is part of their organization and was privileged to be on hand for the on-field presentation of the NFC trophy, which occurred just after this photo was taken.    

Jack Alofs has written a book about basketball coaching, Jack Plus 5. In 20 years of coaching at Herkimer County Community College, he compiled a 391-155 record (he’s shown here with the game ball from his 300 th win); one of his teams finished fourth in the national Division I Junior College Tournament, and another won the Division III national championship. The book has been endorsed by Jim Boeheim of SU and P.J. Carlesimo of the NBA.
