“Earned” is the operative word. He lost
three of his top players to knee injuries
by mid-season, yet his team still made it
to the NCAA Round of 16, an accom-
plishment he admitted far exceeded his
expectations.
Liberty League Player of the Year Sam
DeMello and the nation’s best defense
were keys to the Saint success, which saw
the team record just the third unbeaten,
untied regular season in program history
at 16-0-0. DeMello “put the team on his
back and carried it,” Durocher said. The

All-America for the second straight year,
finishing third overall at nationals.
Men’s soccer coach Bob Durocher
earned Liberty League Coach of the Year
honors for the 11th time in his 22 seasons
as head coach, and NSCAA/MONDO
East Region Coach of the Year honors
for the sixth time for the 2011 season.

With eighth-place finishes by both cross

program ranks eighth, its highest ever,
with 194.5 points among 171 NCAA Di-
vision III teams that competed in NCAA
tournaments during the fall of 2011.
The cross country squads’ accomplish-

women were New York State Collegiate
Track Conference, Liberty League and
NCAA Atlantic Regional champions, and
each team had the Liberty League Runner
of the Year as seniors Jenna Hulton and
John Johnston had dominating seasons.
Hulton was Liberty League and NY-
SCTC individual champion and finished
fourth in the Atlantic Regional, earning
All-America honors for the second time
with a 34th at the NCAA Champion-
