Our Ships.” If any classmate would like to read it,
your reporter at the above email address will send
it to you. Hundley has written several books; the
newest is titled
Do Something Scary: Get Undressed
for Business
. This reporter heartily endorses read-
ing it; you will pick up Hundley’s enthusiasm. You’ll
have a good feeling after reading it. Visit Dosome-
thingscary.com for info on ordering the book.
Lynn Chilton Burt
recommends two fas-
cinating books,
Team of Rivals
by Doris Kearns
Goodwin (about the life and times of Abraham
Lincoln) and
The Next Decade
by George Friedman
(geopolitics). Lynn recently returned from an an-
nual trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario to see
plays at the Shaw Festival, bookended by relatives’
visits. She is keeping busy with kids and grandkids,
golf and bridge. Lynn signs off with “Our 55th was
FAB.”
Steve Avery
continues volunteering with
student support work via the International Junior
Golf Academy and has been involved with Habi-
tat for Humanity plus tutoring disadvantaged mi-
nority youth. He has been in contact with
Dick

, who converses with

,
Jim

and
Jim Barrick
. Let’s hear your
news!
The illustrious chair of our 55th reunion,
Doris
Kloppenburg Ferry
, is playing tennis,biking and
boating. She is volunteering at the senior center
with the elderly program, and is already planning
the next reunion. Meanwhile,
Lola Somerville
Schott
writes from Florida that she is enjoying
visits from children and grandchildren.
The Schroeder family traveled from California
to the reunion and found out why St. Lawrence
University is so special. On our way to the Ottawa
airport, we had a wonderful visit with Bud ’55 and
Ann Clough Garlock
in Alexandria Bay. Bud’s
boat trip around the islands was a highlight. It was
delightful to view the beautiful region and be en-
tertained by a special Laurentian couple.

everyone is busy.

under the weather for two years but is starting to
feel better. Our thoughts and prayers are with you,
Maureen, for continued recovery.

Ann Wilson Wohlhueter
reported a most
diverse and densely packed series of weather phe-
nomena in Virginia last summer. August is usually,
to use her words, horribly hot and humid. On top
of that, in one week they were treated to an earth-
quake, a tornado and a hurricane. Perhaps variety
is the spice of life, but that may be going a little far.
The epicenter of the earthquake was about 20
miles south of them. It prompted her to think
about Doc Bloomer, geology professor extraordi-
naire. Whoever said that geology wasn’t relevant
to daily life?
The tornado touched down north of them in
Maryland and, although Irene passed by, there was
little damage as they battened down the hatches.
She was hoping to hear more about the impact
any one of these might have had on other class-
mates, but I have heard nothing from them. We
can hope no news is good news.
For about 10 years,

happened. We had a nice day, a beautiful course, a
lot of laughs, and some random spectacular shot-
making. When the smoke had cleared, and the last
ball had been holed, it was dead even. I believe
that was a relief to all parties, but it also gave us
reason to renew the challenge. It was so much fun

Several classmates have been selected for induc-
tion into the SLU Athletic Hall of Fame. Con-
gratulations go out to
Joe Pete Wilson
, whose

skiing both as an undergraduate at SLU and for
many years since have certainly earned him a spot
on the Hall of Fame wall in Augsbury. Several oth-
er classmates were members of one of the hockey
teams inducted. The 1951-52, ’54-55 and ’55-56
teams represented SLU in the NCAA Champion-
ships in Colorado.
I had a note from
Tom Coluccio
, who has
not set foot on campus in far too long. What a
treat to show him an almost totally new campus.
Bill Renner

Bill Brown

Jim Golly
,
Rip Ri-

Ron Henry
and Tom were also mem-
bers of that august group of skaters. Congratula-
tions to them as well. Bernie was a member of
two of the teams, so I was invited to attend the
luncheon.
Exciting news arrived from theWest Coast!
Al-
exander Wallace
(aka Wally Douglas) walked
the Red Carpet with the Fabulous Fabian and Dara
as VIP guests of Luis Carlos Montalvan, a VOICE
Awards recipient. Montalvan’s New York Times
best-seller,
Until Tuesday: AWoundedWarrior and the
Dog Who Saved Him
, received a standing ovation.
Montalvan has survived Iraq and many injuries, and
Tuesday, a Lab Service dog, has been an amazing
friend and aid. Alexander, Luis and Fabian are all
active supporters of Veterans Against theWars. It
certainly sounds like quite an occasion and a well-
deserved accolade. Thanks for sharing,Alexander.

she greatly enjoyed a visit with Tina Hall Burke

touch, but life, kids, jobs, etc. had a way of keep-
ing them at a distance. After 35-40 years, there

variety of family occasions: birthdays (one 90th

school graduations of grandchildren in Boston and
Lakeville, Conn., a dance recital, and a grandpar-

golf, and managed to run a couple of tournaments
here in Canton. Whoever said retirement was re-

Thanks to technical problems, some messages
mysteriously disappeared from my Word docu-
ments. If I have omitted anyone’s email or Face-
book message, please forgive me.
First, I enjoyed a Facebook visit with
Lucia
(Ann) Sullivan Ryan
. She and Keith celebrat-
ed their 51st wedding anniversary last summer
with a huge family reunion which included won-
derful family photos.
I normally do not do much Facebooking, but
this time I kept scrolling and have concluded this
may be a good way for the rest of us to keep in
touch. Another classmate’s family sent out a card
to their parents’ many friends, asking everyone to
“shower” their parents with cards and letters. I
hope that
Val Coluni
and Ginny received as
many letters and cards as their children sent.
Jack and I had a very enjoyable summer between
