Stephanie Finn
was recently promoted to assis-
tant account executive at Edelman, a global pub-
lic relations firm in New York City, after interning
with the company for a few months. She assists
with social media campaigns through Facebook
andTwitter for her clients. During the summer she
was working with Ben & Jerry’s and their scoop
truck campaign, a sampling program run through
Twitter.
I keep in regular contact with my old roommate,
Amanda Mooney
,
who is entering her second
year at Albany Law School. Over the summer
she worked in downtown Buffalo with one of the
city’s most prestigious law firms.
Chris Funch
was published in the winter issue
of
The SPS Observer: The Magazine of the Society of
Physics Students
.
The physics major continued his
education through the Master Industrial Leader-
ship Program at the University of Oregon. As he
explained in his article, “Taking a Lesser-Known
Path,”the internship program not only consists of
intensive course and lab work, but also allows a
student to take part in a nine-month paid intern-
ship in the industry. After completing the pro-
gram, Chris will begin his career with IBM.

Taylor Engle
is starting a master’s degree pro-
gram in animal genetics and breeding at the Uni-
versity of Nebraska. He is there on an assistant-
ship studying the effects of a virus found in swine
and attempting to determine if certain pigs have
a genetic resistance to the virus.
GriffinGreen
is living in NewYork City andwork-
ing at FIAT of Manhattan as a FIAT sales specialist.
Alex Junda
is working at Fastenal and recently
became a marketing consultant for Ambit Energy.
Toma Kraft
was at Amazon as a software devel-
oper engineer intern for the summer. Upon the
completion of his internship, Toma planned to
attend the University of North Carolina at Char-
lotte to pursue a Ph.D., in computer science, while
working in the visualization lab. As Toma de-
scribes it, his research involves data mining/data
analysis on social media which processes large
sets of tweets from twitter and categorizes them
into topics, allowing the user to visualize what
people are talking about online in graph form
over a given period of time.
Drake Paul
has started a sports blog called "The
Guys on the Couch 2012.” Described as “sports
from a comfortable point of view,” Drake’s new
blog is a place for sports enthusiasts and casual
viewers alike. Follow on Tumblr, Twitter and Face-
book.
Over the summer,
Emma Rentz
told me she
would be traveling to Qinhuangdao in Hebei, Chi-
na. She’ll be teaching English at Qinhuangdao’s
Foreign Language School.
Christina Smith
had plans to move to Madrid
in September for one year, to teach English and
au pair for a family with two young children. After
returning next summer, she plans tomove to New
York or Boston to work while earning a master’s
degree in teaching.
Lauren Stemler
has been hired as a residential
coordinator at St. Lawrence. She also attends
SUNY Potsdam, working toward her master’s de-
gree in mathematics over the next two years.

When I was at St. Lawrence, I remember that
snow fell on October 12. Does any graduate alum
remember an earlier date? Please email me, and
while you are at it, give me news of your careers,
vacations, accomplishments and more.
Friends and colleagues honored me by partici-
pating in the Rochester Tour de Cure for Diabetes
in June. They were “Team Golobek,” the singlular
form of golobki (Polish stuffed cabbages), which
I have become famous for making for friends and
church functions.
Haley Feickert ’11 Named Saints Network Manager
Haley Feickert ’11 has joined the Annual Giving
and Laurentian Engagement (formerly Alumni and
Parent Programs) team as assistant director for event
planning. A performance and communication arts
major and music and African studies minor, she was
a member of the Laurentian Singers, co-founded the
co-ed a cappella group The Up Beats, was a caller
for Calling all Saints and an Admissions summer
intern, and studied in Kenya during summer 2009.
Haley is responsible for planning Saints Network
events for alumni, parents and friends as well as
orchestrating Homecoming weekend. “If you would
like to be a Saints Network volunteer and work with
me to help plan events in your area, please contact
me,” she says. “Events can range from informal
cocktail hours, to family-friendly gatherings, to
cultural, community service-oriented and upscale
receptions, to athletic events. All are welcome. I
look forward to getting to know you!”
