ribbon for it I DO make a pretty fabulous bourbon
pecan pie!”
I’ve never received an update that included life
bullet points, which I think deserves pointing out.
I have requested the recipe for the bourbon pecan
pie, and after I (hopefully) receive it and thoroughly
test it, I will be sure to include it in a future column,
with Jessica’s consent.
Booth Platt says that he and McKenzie
Barnes had their second child––a boy named
Olin Reed––on April 14, 2011.They’re “still holding
down the fort in Michigan.”
Dawn-Marie, our daughter Addison and I are
still doing well. I took my first official strides into
middle age and built a near-pro-level horseshoe pit
in the backyard. House rules state that an adult
beverage must be in hand at all times while playing.
I’m hoping to get Addison to the summits of a few
14,000-footers. Keep in touch; if I don’t write back
immediately I’m not ignoring you, just perfecting my
procrastination.

I was sorry to have missed Reunion this year. For
teachers, that time of year tends to be much too
busy. The pictures I have seen online show it was
a great time!
In Future Laurentian news, two little girls were
born this year! Elizabeth Carr and Nathan
Sabourin welcomed Anna Mary on March 22,
2011. Kristy Moe Carlson and husband Ethan
welcomed their second little one, Harper Jane on
May 9, 2011. Both girls are beautiful (and I know
because I saw both in person)! Congratulations to
the Carlsons and the Sabourins!
Erica Rapp Wilcoxson has been my class
reporter liaison and wrote me with a lot of great
news:“Over Memorial Day weekend, we attended
Maury Vincent’s wedding along with Sarah
Weilbrenner, Marisa Dolinsky Bartlett,
Meg Doepke, Gretchen Schleicher, Kath-
erine McManmon ’02, Lindsay Blake, Robin

Saints Network
On April 26, Laurentians in Buf-
falo gathered at the Pearl Street
Grill to celebrate spring and
catch up afer work (pictured). Te next
day, Laurentians in Rochester convened
at Murphy’s Law Irish Pub. Both groups
were joined by Barb Knauf of University
advancement.
In Arizona, alumni met at Cave Creek
Regional Park for a Saturday morning hike
with Steve Wahl ’62, P’92 on April 30.
OnMay 2, more than 30 alumni, parents
and friends attended a special reception at
the home of David ’95 and Julia Steckel
Fleischner ’95 in Haverford, Pa., with
President William L. Fox ’75 and his wife,
Lynn. Te following day, the Foxes joined
over 100 Laurentians in New York City at
a reception hosted by University Trustees
Donna Winston ’85 and Greg Ferrero ’84
at the Goldman Sachs building.
As June drew to a close, young alumni
gathered in Boston, New York and Wash-
ington, D.C., to celebrate the kickof of
summer. Over 100 Laurentians partici-
pated in these events, at which a part of
their registration included a gif to the St.
Lawrence Fund.
On June 23, a group of alumni, parents and fiends attended a
special reception in Bufalo that featured a meet-and-greet with
Grace Potter ’06n (second fom right) and Matt Burr ’03 (lef) of
Grace Potter and Te Nocturnals, pictured with former University
staf members Jodi and B.J. Revill and their children. Te event
took place just prior to Bufalo’s Tursday in the Square concert,
headlined by Potter and her band.
