Circle of Enlightenment: Tibetan Buddhist Sand Mandala

Healing and the Ritual Arts of Tibet
Lecture by Dr. Anne C. Klein

Buddhist ways of understanding of the body, drawn from India and elaborated in many Tibetan texts, underlies both its medical system and its practice of Tantra. The body is itself a product of one's own past actions (karma), and the elements of which the body consists--earth, fire, water, air, and space--are the object of both medical and meditative purification. This talk introduces central medical principles of Tibet and explores certain of their analogues in meditative ritual.
