Gwen mentioned that Bruce is very involved in
the Medal of Honor charity. Bill is likewise active
in the Marine Corps scholarship program for chil-
dren of fallen heroes. Bill worked with
Richard
Glazer
on a fundraiser using insignia golf clubs
that Rich sells.
Getting together, I hope, brings thoughts of Re-
union to the fore. You are making your plans al-
ready, aren’t you? No family members allowed to
graduate, marry, etc. on that weekend. We need
all the threads of our tapestry there. See you at

From campus comes sad word of the death of
Robert Johnson
in Dexter, N.Y., after a long ca-
reer as a dentist in the Watertown area. Prior to
his death he had made a special request to family
and friends that seems an appropriate way to end
this column: “Please tell people, instead of dona-
tions, to give their children, grandchildren and
great- grandchildren a hug… for that is what life
has always been about.”

Dan Sullivan
and Ann are living on Higley Flow
in Colton (near Canton) and Chautauqua in the
summer and spend a month in Florida in the win-
ter. He has started a higher education consulting
practice and his biggest client is the Association of
American Colleges and Universities, whose mis-
sion is to support the health and vitality of liberal
arts education. Dan chairs AAC&U’s Presidents’
Trust of about 100 presidents of member institu-
tions. He states, “liberal education is devoted to
inquiry and analysis, critical and creative thinking,
written and oral communication, quantitative
literacy information, literacy and intercultural un-
derstanding, teamwork and real-world problem
solving as well as knowledge and competence in
specific fields of learning.”
Dan was on the AAC&U board for many years
while he was president at St. Lawrence, and was
chair in 2008. He also works with individual col-
leges to facilitate strategic planning, help with
comprehensive appraisals of presidents and also
help presidents and boards with governance
issues. He has written articles on higher educa-
tion issues for newspapers and one issue of “In-
side Higher Education.” Dan and Ann play tennis
three times a week and are active members of
the Unitarian Universalist Church in Canton. He

Peter Richardson
graduated with the Class of
’65
of the Theological School. He retired to Rock-
land, Maine, after a career as a Unitarian Univer-
salist Minister in Texas, Massachusetts and Maine.
Peter has authored
Four Spiritualities, The Boston
Religion, Exploring Unitarian Universalist Identity,
Archetype of the Spirit, Sunday Meditations
and
Journey Beyond God.
He has led workshops and
pilgrimages to over 20 countries and authored
the UUA traditions statement, “Wisdom from
the world’s religions which inspire us in our ethi-
cal and spiritual life.” Peter and his wife have 13
grandchildren and he continues to write and do
research involving the church.

and Mary Lou Sprague ’64 live
in Maryland and maintain a home in Canandai-
gua, N.Y. They keep in touch with
Alan Ameigh
in Virginia and see

and Jan dur-
ing the summer. He still does consulting work
in the pharmaceutical industry and teaches
courses on sterile drug manufacturing and
quality control technology. Russ also volun-
teers for USP & ASTA international.

Richard Morrow
purchased the Meadows Res-
taurant in late August. It’s about a mile out Park
Street from the Little River Bridge on the edge of
campus. They serve excellent morning meals and
lunches. We are giving Richard a plug because of
the good work he has done in helping us gather
class information and has said little of himself.
When in the area, stop in and say hello.
Mike Savage
and Richie Broadbelt ’63 say
there is a movement afoot to honor
Bob Perani
with some kind of remembrance on campus.
They are gathering information, along with Bob’s
children, to place a tree or bench or plaque near
Appleton Arena. If interested in helping, let Mike
or Richie know...details later.
Stevie and I undertook a three-day canoe trip
in the Saranac Lakes area in the Adirondacks.
This was our sixth year of canoeing the Northern
Forest Route from Old Forge, N.Y., to northern
Maine. We canoe with two other couples and
bite off a section each year. This was the best
three-day trip yet!

The weekend prior to Reunion,
Lori Strauss
Bantz
was in San Francisco for the 75
th
anniver-
sary bash for the Golden Gate Bridge. Joseph B.
Strauss, the chief engineer involved in the con-
struction of the bridge, was Lori’s great-uncle.
There was a VIP ribbon-cutting and an opening
event with the mayor, Rep. Nancy Pelosi and
Governor Jerry Brown. Lori ended up on several
San Francisco local evening new stations! In ad-
dition to enjoying a history tent devoted to the
construction of the bridge and going out to lunch
with event organizers, Lori said, “the grand finale
was spectacular fireworks off the bridge, which
we watched frommy daughter-in-law’s sweeping
view of the harbor.” The weekend after Reunion,
Lori’s son David was married in Los Angeles.
Joan Friedlander Hurley
made a trip to Boston
in mid-April for daughter Elisa’s bridal shower.
While there, she got together with
Sally Fleming
Watters
,
who is very involved with the Boston
Marathon. She and Joan spent part of their visit
putting together packets for the Marathon. Joan,
husband Jack and son Kevin flew east again for
Elisa’s June wedding in Maine.
Ginny Fosdick Stevenson
had a great trip to
Copenhagen and then went on a Baltic cruise.
She says she was “blown away by St. Petersburg
and the Hermitage.”
