Elizabeth ’46, and her brother,Timothy ’82. Those
fondly remembering her include her father,Arthur
’42, and her sister,Anne ’73.
1982
Eleanor J. Mondale
of Prior Lake,
Minn., passed away on September 17, 2011. She
was the daughter of Walter Mondale, vice presi-
dent of the United States under Jimmy Carter, and
Joan Mondale. An avid animal lover, she was a mem-
ber of the riding club at St. Lawrence and studied
abroad in Kenya. The daughter of a politician, an
aspiring actress and a television personality, she
was highly visible throughout her life. She worked
for the E! online cable channel, had small roles in
TV’s “Dynasty” and “Three’s Company,” and was a
reporter for ESPN. She and her husband, musician
Chan Poling, moved back to Minnesota in 2005 to
raise miniature horses. In addition to her husband
and parents, she is survived by two brothers.

Barbara Dodd Anderson
passed
away November 26, 2010, in Fresno, Cal. Barbara
was an extremely generous donor to her high
school alma mater, The George School, to which
she gave the record-setting largest single donation
ever made to an existing U.S. independent school.
Upon graduating fromThe George School in 1950,
she enrolled at St. Lawrence and became a sister
of Kappa Delta while working toward her degree
in psychology. She continued her education at
Columbia University, earning a master’s degree,
which she used to teach elementary school until
she married. She is survived by her two children
and a granddaughter.
1955
William “Bill” Mueller
of Augusta,
Ga., died on December 8, 2010, in his home. While
at St. Lawrence, he was a brother of Phi Sigma Kap-
pa fraternity, joined ROTC and received a degree
in sociology. He also participated in intramural
WTSVXW ,I [EW ER EZMH ½WLIVQER WLVMQTIV ERH
hunter. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, a
son, two daughters and one granddaughter.
1957M
Jacqueline “Jackie” Gonseth-
Jones
of Potsdam, N.Y., died June 23, 2011. After
attending Potsdam State Teacher’s College, she re-
ceived her master’s degree at St. Lawrence. She
married Alan Jones ’58 and they raised three chil-
dren, who include Laura Kiely M’81. She retired
after 36 years of teaching elementary and college
classes. Survivors in addition to her husband and
children include seven grandchildren, among them
Cassandra Jones ’14.
1959M
Patricia Heap Warner
of Bonita
Springs, Fla., and Norwalk, Conn., passed away July
2, 2011, in Norwalk. After graduating from Mary
Mount College, she earned her master’s degree
from St. Lawrence. She would later receive an-

communications. She was a history teacher and
a director of communications for the Girl Scouts.
Her survivors include her husband of 55 years,
William ’59n.
1962
Patricia “Pat” Muhlbauer Nye
passed away August 6, 2011, in her home in Mount
Holly, Vt. She pledged Kappa Delta and was vice
president of the local chapter during her time at
St. Lawrence. Excelling academically, she made the
Dean’s List and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
She graduated magna cum laude with a degree in
psychology. Her husband, two children and ex-
tended family survive her.
1963
Charles “Chuck” T. Harther III
died suddenly in Pelham, N.Y., on June 30, 2011.
He majored in sociology and pledged Sigma Al-
pha Epsilon fraternity, where his brothers fondly
nicknamed him “The Bat.” Being blinded at birth
did not slow him down. He dedicated his life to
helping others, working at
the New York Association
for the Blind. He is remem-
bered fondly by his class-
mates, fraternity brothers
and family members, who
include his daughter, Beth
Harther Moll ’90n; his step-
mother, Betty Leber Sala
Harther ’48; and his stepsis-
ter, Nancy Sala Connor ’73.
1967
Jeffrey S. Bidle
passed away May 22,
2011, in Jacksonville, Fla.At St. Lawrence, he was a
brother of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and a member of
the “L” Club. He and his surviving wife of 46 years,
Wendy, lived in Vetsville (St. Lawrence married
housing) for two years. Following graduation with
a degree in English, he was employed at Armstrong
World Industries for 43 years. He is also survived
by two children and one grandson.
1967
Lawrence “Larry” M. Witte
of
Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., died
July 1, 2011. He made the Dean’s List while earning
his psychology degree and was a brother of Sigma
Pi. He was very active on campus, singing in the
University Choir and serving in the Thelomathe-
sian Society and Dorm Council. He is survived by
his wife and two sons, who are both physicians.

Jon C. Stranburg
of Allegany, N.Y.,
passed away August 8, 2011. He earned his degree
in economics, making Dean’s List and becoming
part of the Omicron Delta Epsilon honorary soci-
ety for economics. He was a member of Sigma Chi,
Inter-Fraternity Council, ROTC and the Student
Judiciary Board. His survivors include his mother,
Phyllis Allen Stranburg ’44; his wife, Terri Jenkins
Stranburg ’74n; a daughter, Kelly ’99; a brother, Lee
’68; and a sister, Kay Stranburg Spurr ’70, who is
married to John “Jack” Spurr Jr. ’68.
1975
Barbara J. O’Connell
of New York
City died on July 8, 2011, at her summer home in
Cape Cod, Mass. While at St. Lawrence, she earned
a degree in psychology and was a sister of Pi Beta
Phi. She later received a master’s in library science
from the Pratt Institute of New York City, which
prepared her for different occupations in insur-
ance, computer technology and publishing through-
