Charles Zogby
received a lovely write-up
in one of the Utica papers. He has been named
the top budget adviser to Pennsylvania Governor
TomCorbett.Wow! Charles has worked in politics
and government administration jobs since leaving
SLU. He started in D.C., working on campaigns,
and graduated from George Mason School of Law.
He lives in Fairview Township, and was head of
the Pennsylvania Department of Education under
Governors Tom Ridge and Mark Schweiker 2001-
03. Before that, he served as the governor’s policy
director from 1995 to 2001.
“It’s going to be a tremendous challenge, but
it’s an exciting opportunity,” he said. “I’m look-
ing forward to serving the governor and deliver-
ing the message he has brought to the people.”
His largest task as budget adviser will be to close
the state’s looming $4 billion budget gap. Corbett
campaigned last fall to close that gap without in-
creasing state taxes or fees.
I got a wonderful letter from
Katherine Bar-
one
. She has been a faculty member at Lesley
University, Cambridge, Mass., for about 20 years.
She received her counseling Ph.D. from SUNY
Buffalo in 1989 and did her pre-doctoral intern-
ship at the Center for Multi-Cultural Training in
Psychology at Boston City Hospital – the place
that inspired “St. Elsewhere.” Katherine teaches
psychology to future entry-level practitioners
in human services and related degrees and has
touched thousands of children and families whose
lives are affected by the students she has taught.
“My clinical area is trauma recovery,” she wrote.
“I worked in Spanish and English in inner-city
community mental health for many years. I now
supervise master’s-level mental health practitio-
ners and run a small private practice.”
In 2000, Katherine was widowed and is now rais-
ing her teenage niece Miranda as a single parent.
She is in intermittent contact – “FB and cards” –
with artist
Bobbie Bush
, residing in Salem,Mass.,
who is making a go at it as a photographer, and
John DiBello
, residing in Brooklyn, N.Y., who
is in the publishing world. Katherine is hoping to
establish contact again with

We had so much fun talking about all of our St.

dren are as old as or almost as old as we were
when we all met many moons ago in Dean-Eaton
and Carnegie Hall.

one in high school. We have met at the SLU-Yale
