Dix & Eaton Incorporated, Cleveland, has announced the promotion of Robert G. Berick ’89 to senior vice president, investor relations and corporate communications. He advises public and private companies on a wide range of communication issues. Berick, who serves St. Lawrence as class reporter, joined Dix & Eaton in 2001 after serving as director of corporate communications and investor relations for Scott Technologies, Inc. (formerly Figgie International Inc.), where he designed and implemented a strategic communications program to reposition the company within the business and financial community. Earlier, he was vice president and director of investor relations at the Cleveland public relations firm Watt, Roop & Co. He began his career in the New York office of Hill & Knowlton, Inc., where he was a member of that firm's financial relations division. He is an officer of the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth and a member of the National Investor Relations Institute and the marketing committee of the Cleveland Center for Contemporary Art.

When Danny Graham ’00 ran in last fall’s New York City Marathon (finishing in three hours and four minutes), he enjoyed the support, both along the route and at the “meet and greet” area near the finish where this shot was taken, of several Laurentians. Standing from left are his coach, Brendan Hogan ’00, Mike McCue ’00, Alex Peterson ’00, Graham and Trustee David Officer ’67, while in the foreground is Trustee Katy MacKay ’70.

Boston University School of Management has announced the appointment of Scott Stewart ’81 as faculty director of the Master of Science in Investment Management (MSIM) program. Prof. Stewart, who has been with Boston University since 2001, was formerly a fund manager and Equity Group leader at Fidelity Investments. “Recent changes in the investment and finance management community increasingly demand high-quality management practices and better-qualified professionals,” said Louis E. Lataif, dean of the BU School of Management. “Scott's industry expertise in developing and managing global equity, fixed income and derivative investment strategies for Fidelity Investments and State Street brings enormous value to the program's future success.”

Stewart’s investment success has been noted in several business publications, including Barron's and The Wall Street Journal. He earned his MBA and Ph.D. in finance at Cornell and has published several research papers in professional journals.
