John McPeak '88 and Margaret Leala were married in a two-part ceremony, the first a church wedding and reception on April 28, 2001, in Marsabit, Kenya, and the second a traditional wedding in Margaret's village of Karare, near Marsabit, on the 29th and 30th. With them in the [church shot] is Chachu Ganya '96. Robert G. Berick '89 has joined the client counseling staff of Dix & Eaton Incorporated of Cleveland, Ohio, as vice president, investor relations and corporate communications. In this position he advises public and private companies on a wide range of communications issues. He has held several corporate positions in the Cleveland area during his career. He lives in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, with his wife, Kelly, and their son, Joseph, 1½.
Laurentians from '95 through '04 gathered on the Niagara County (N.Y.) Golf Course last July 28 for the third annual Mark A. Monaco Memorial Golf Tournament. The tournament raises money for the Mark A. Monaco Memorial Fund, which contributes to an annual scholarship in his name at Maryvale High School in Depew, N.Y., as well as a fund established to dedicate an interview room in the Career Planning and Leadership Center in the new St. Lawrence student center, construction of which begins this spring. Fortune magazine has named Betsy Bernard '77 to its 2001 annual survey of the "50 Most Powerful Women in Business." She is president and CEO of long-distance giant AT&T Consumer, leading more than 14,000 employees in the heart of the tumultuous telecommunications industry. She works at the company's Basking Ridge, N.J., headquarters.

Maureen "Mo" Drummey '92 has joined the SKI magazine staff as assistant editor. She oversees the magazine's letters to the editor, Midwest regional section and Mountain Property department, and writes the Property of the Month and Design File. She has also written a lead feature, on an environmentally sensitive paper house near Winter Park, Col., and is responsible for paying contributors. She was previously an editor with New York Runner. According to the magazine's Web site, "Mo is a marathoner and telemark skier who has taken on additional responsibilities as guardian of a black lab pup named Sadie."
Sarah Cundiff '00 has been appointed assistant director of annual giving at Saint Michael's College, Colchester, Vt. She had been assistant director of alumni and parent programs at St. Lawrence in 2000-01. During her undergraduate years she was an RA, took part in St. Lawrence's program in France and completed internships in the University communications office and at SeaWeb in Washington, D.C. She lives in Burlington, Vt.
Upon retiring from St. Lawrence last July 1, after working for the University for 31 years, John Clark '69 found he had time to do some things he'd always dreamed of doing, such as a cross-Canada solo bike trek. He flew to Vancouver last September 5 and he and his 27-gear, 28-pound bicycle and 50 pounds of camping and cooking gear arrived home outside DeKalb Junction, N.Y., on October 15. Clark told a Watertown Daily Times reporter that he mostly traveled the wide-shouldered Trans-Canada Highway, staying in motels more than he had planned to so he could keep up with the news after September 11, and that the monotony of the prairies was a tougher challenge than the terrain of the Rockies. The former St. Lawrence wrestling coach and director of athletics has since returned to coaching, this time for the Canton High School wrestling team.
On October 26 and 27, 2001, geology alumni returned to campus for the fourth triennial meeting of the Geology Alumni Conference series. These conferences feature geology alumni speaking to students and faculty about career and research experiences in a wide range of fields. One day was devoted to the William T. Elberty, Jr. Symposium on Climate, Paleoclimate and Remotely-sensed Data. Some 45 faculty and students attended, as well as 41 alumni and guests at various times.
