Larry Warble
wrote that he is living in Dar-
ien, Conn., where he has been for 10 years now.
He has three kids: two boys, Keenan, 12, and Reilly,
10, and a girl, Casey, 8. All three are avid hockey
players. Maybe they can play for SLU someday! As
Larry wrote this, he was heading out to an event
where Bobby Lawrence ’88 was going to be mixing
the drinks, so he expected a good time.
I also got a brief update from
Karen Wood
during her summer trip to Massachusetts from her
home in Juneau, Alaska. She met up with
Betsy
Jones
and
Sue Bradbury Follett
for lunch
and shopping. As she said, “it was great to catch
up with them; everyone is doing well and enjoying
summertime.”
Bruce Dunham
did his first Ultramarathon
back in March. He ran fifty miles in the North
Georgia mountains. Rain and cool temperatures at
the beginning of the run and the combination of
water and Georgia red clay made for a very muddy
day. The run took longer than he expected but
he still finished in the top third and hopes to do
another in drier conditions. I hope never to run
that far, but I look forward to hearing about more
of Bruce’s races!
Peter Everett
has been living in Atlanta, Ga.,
for 15 years. He has been in commercial real es-
tate, the past 10 years as an executive with two
real estate investment trusts. He handled leasing
and new property acquisitions. Peter is now on his
own and trying to get a real estate fund off the
ground. He has an 8-year-old daughter, Malia, and
is very involved in her sports – tennis, soccer and
lacrosse.
Peter gets to Boston often and sees
Dave Old-
ow
and
Bret
and
Brad Watson
. He also sees
Tim Kenney
a few times a year, as Tim lives in
Atlanta with his wife and daughter, and fellow Phi
Sigs John Cahill ’86 and Rich Maloy ’86, though
they both live in NYC.
Finally, a true update from a story I wrote about
in an earlier column.
Doug Collum
’s stick can-
dles business has expanded and he will be opening
a new candle-making facility and artspace in Old
Forge, N.Y. Check him out at www.stickcandles.
com or go check out his new venue if you’re in the
neighborhood!
Thanks for all the news. I look forward to hearing
from more of you and seeing you all next sum-
mer!

A quick shout out to all those classmates with e-
mail addresses on file with SLU, asking for news to
share, certainly was worthwhile; I received about a
dozen updates. Thanks to all who responded.
The first e-mail I received was from our former
class president,
Tim Charlton
. Tim is “living on
the beach in LA, working at USC” where he treats
Division I athletes as part of the department of
orthopedic surgery. Outside of USC,Tim special-
izes in “surgery below the knee” and has a special
market for dancers. He’s very proud when he sees
his athletes and dancers on TV. Tim said he will
certainly be at our reunion in June 2012.
I also heard from
David Halstead
, who was
elected to the St. Lawrence University Alumni Ex-
ecutive Council, starting a three-year term this June.
Dave, who has been in operations and marketing
roles with AXA Equitable since 1999, covers five
offices in the NYC area. He moved to Huntington,
N.Y., in 2009 after spending 20 years in Manhat-
tan. Dave has mini-SLU reunions at his lake house
in Connecticut with Karla Staib Streeter ’90 and
Jim Rappaport ’90. Dave also sees DeniseTerrance
and
Eric Campion
’92, as they live close by.
A few folks dropped quick one-line updates:
●
Mark Sahler
lives in North Lake Tahoe
with wife Kelly and two sons, Cian, 8, and Conall,
9. Mark is the director of operations at the Ritz-
Carlton, Lake Tahoe.
●
Jeff Miller
is moving back to San Francisco af-
ter seven years in Chicago for a promotion as the
Western Divisional sales manager for Annie’s, Inc.
●
Tammy Sue Badger Lemme
r is finish-
ing up her year as president of the Haslett-Oke-
mos Rotary Club and swapping it for a term as
president of the Haslett (Public Schools) Athletic
Boosters. Tammy, who received a promotion at
work (the Michigan Coalition Against Domestic
and Sexual Violence), is coordinating a multi-disci-
plinary team of statewide partners to address the
needs of survivors with disabilities.Tammy said she
had fun hosting a current SLU student for “Shadow
a Saint Day,” which partners current students with
alumni for a day in their professional field.
●
Katie May Durno
still lives in Grosse Pointe,
Mich., with husband Craig and two kids, Harry, 9,
and Sam, 12; she is “very busy doing the mom
thing” along with some freelance writing on the
side. Katie sees
Mike Cowan
a bit; he teaches
at her kids’ school. Katie also spends time with
Stacy Miller Buhler ’86 along with Mark ’90 and
Amy Saunders Russell ’90.
My former
Hill News
colleague
Melinda Mead
Hurley
wrote to say that on a recent trip from
Chicago to NYC, she visited with
Ashley Whit-
taker
and then ran into
Adam Finger
and
Jen Esposito Smith
on separate occasions in
Chicago. Adam, who moved to Chicago from the
NYC area about five years ago, is married with
two kids and is a lawyer for a Chicago-based asset
management company. Meanwhile, Melinda and
Jen, who is married to
Gavin Smith
, were run-
ning a 5Kwith their fourth-grade daughters when
they spotted each other amongst 10,000 people!
Susan Burke O’Neal
forwarded a photo
from a gathering that
Alan Osborne
hosted
with members of the Class of 1991 on May 19,
2011, to mark the 20th anniversary of our gradu-
ation. Others there included
Debra Kanabis,
Molly Pope, Beth Moriarty Kemp, Lara
Murialdo Weis, Darci O’Brien, Noelle
Kennedy McCulloch, Ashley Whittaker,
Erik Brandvold
and
Nick Finn
. What a great
idea,Alan – and congrats for remembering the ac-
tual date of our Commencement!
Another mini-reunion took place in Boulder,
Col., back in October 2010….this time represent-
ing “more than half of the Kenya semester pro-
gram participants from the fall semester in 1989.”
Andrea Freeman
, who is a program director
with The Trustees of Reservations, a 120-year-old
non-profit that protects and cares for woodlands,
beaches, farms, trails, wetlands, urban parks and
historic buildings all over Massachusetts, wrote
to say that attendees included
Colleen Quinn,
Bevin Gumm, George Bull
, Jayson Benoit

in recognition of the honor during the
league’s annual meeting of the Board of
